Apprentice Education Committee
The Apprentice Education Committee is comprised of no less than two members who will advise, lead, and direct the development and implementation of The Ohio Interactive Apprentice Workshop.
Responsibilities
- Develop curriculum and PowerPoint to be presented at the Workshop.
- Secure equipment needed for the Workshop either through donations or sponsorships.
- Transport equipment, set up and tear down the Workshop, and store equipment.
- Communicate with the Opticians Association of Ohio Executive Committee regarding registration and facility needs.
- Communicate with Workshop attendees regarding upcoming events.
- Prepare and submit committee reports for each Opticians Association of Ohio meeting.

Bylaws Committee
The Bylaw Committee is comprised of members who review the Bylaws to ensure its relevance and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- The committee will review the Bylaws for relevancy a minimum of every five years.
- Compose revisions and amendments as deemed appropriate by the board of trustees.
- Notify membership of proposed changes to be voted on at the annual meeting.
- Present amendment changes to membership to be voted on at the annual meeting.
Education Committee
The Education Committee is comprised of members who collaborate with staff to provide input and recommendations in the creation, development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of OAO continuing education initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Research, recommend and schedule education offerings for regional seminars.
- Ensure all education is either ABO-NCLE approved or submitted to the OODB for approval.
- Offer input on venues for education program.
- Solicit new courses/instructors from industry for on-site and on-line programming.
- Research and recommend new formats for delivery, including panel discussions, hands-on workshops, plant tours, etc.
- Monitor and evaluate courses/instructors.
- Write articles/columns for the quarterly OAO e-newsletter.
- Serve as resource for staff to implement education programming.
- Prepare and submit committee report for each OAO Board meeting.
Government and Legislative Committee
The Government and Legislative Committee is comprised of members who work together to gather information regarding legislative issues which may affect opticianry.
Responsibilities
- Assist and advise OAO members on the legislative process
- Establish and foster relationships with legislators. Instruct other opticians on how to do the same.
- Attend the Ohio Vision Professional Board and Vision Professional Rules Committee meetings when possible.
- Work within a committee to lead communications to legislators when proposed bills conflict and jeopardize the continuation of opticianry.

Marketing Communications Committee
The Marketing Communications Committee is comprised of members who provide input and direction to OAO marketing and communications projects and programs. Committee members will work with staff and in tandem with other OAO committees to create seamless marketing communications efforts.
Responsibilities
- Create greater awareness through branding program.
- Develop and implement annual member survey with input from Membership Committee and benchmark results with previous surveys.
- Develop and implement annual member survey.
- Research and recommend product/service pricing.
- Solicit and/or write articles/columns for the quarterly OAO e-newsletter.
- Evaluate and recommend direction for the OAO website and social media platforms.
- Strengthen and promote OAO advocacy activities.
- Prepare and submit committee report for each OAO Board meeting.
Membership / Welcoming Committee
The Membership Committee is comprised of members who draw on their industry expertise and work with staff to provide input and recommendations to enhance OAO membership initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement annual member survey with input from Marketing Communications Committee and benchmark results with previous surveys.
- Make recommendations on and evaluate processes and programs that will increase membership retention and recruitment.
- Identify and review ideas for new benefits and products/services for members.
- Make regular calls to members with lapsed memberships.
- Grow and mentor Member-Get-a-Member
- Act as a resource for staff to implement projects/programs.
- Write articles/columns for the quarterly OAO e-newsletter.
- Prepare and submit committee report for each OAO Board meeting.l
Partnership Committee
The Partnership Committee is comprised of members who provide an effective process for identifying, recruiting, retaining and recognizing partners. Works with staff to secure partnerships to enhance the OAO bottom line with a significant source of non-dues revenue.
Responsibilities
- Research and recommend partnerships that financially support OAO.
- Contact and solicit past and prospective partners from within and outside the optical industry.
- Structure benefits for partnership levels.
- Review marketing collateral and contracts for partnerships.
- Develop and implement opportunities to recognize partners.
- Write articles/columns for the quarterly OAO e-newsletter.
- Prepare and submit committee report for each OAO Board meeting.
