Information for. your license renewal

The Opticians Association of Ohio wants to remind you that your Ohio license renewal will begin on October 1 and end on December 31, 2025.

Renewing your license will cost one hundred ninety-eight dollars and fifty cents ($198.50). Keep in mind this is for a two-year license.

If you hold a Spectacle license, you will need:

• Eight (8) hours of ABO continuing education.
• Four (4) hours of NCLE (Contact) credits.

If you hold a Spectacle/Contact lens license, you will need:

• Sixteen (16) of NCLE continuing education hours.
• Eight (8) ABO continuing education hours.

2023-2025 Newly licensed opticians' requirements:

• Two (2) SCD continuing education hours.

A key benefit of your membership is tracking all your continuing education (CE) hours when you attend an OAO Professional Development Education Event.

Please note that your CE hours will remain in your portal until the expiration date.  Your membership MUST be current to access this ongoing featured benefit.
