This course will review and prepare the candidate for the ABO basic examination. Topics will include:
Domain I - Ophthalmic Optics; topics will include; terminology, prescriptions, lens characteristics, lens powers and formulas, multifocal, lens materials, and prism.
Domain II - Ocular Anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the eye; Topics will include the structure of the eye and function and refractive errors.
Domain III - Ophthalmic Products: topics will include; frames lenses, applying product knowledge, recognizing specific product applicability to patient's needs and wants, verifying frame and lens parameters, and other physical characteristics.
Domain IV - Instrumentation; topics to be covered include - the use of lens power measuring devices, select ophthalmic tools, instruments, and equipment, and maintaining ophthalmic tools, instruments, and equipment.
Domain V - Dispensing Procedures; topics will include - visual needs for lifestyle and occupational activities; fitting, adjusting, measuring, and verification; and patient interaction.
